Communicating in a time of Narrative Change

March, 10, 2022, 2-3:00pm EST
Shake up your nonprofit's narrative to be more equitable while being authentic

This webinar, as a part of the Create Good 2022 Conference, will create the space and opportunity for communication staffers to think about the collective impact of content and message creation. In a time where there is an abundance of messages, taglines, mantras, and visuals that inspire and ignite feeling and action, how do communication professionals balance the desire to inform, educate, and share critical information about your organization?

  • What are the stories that are embedded in what you are communicating?
  • What narrative do these stories create?
  • What is the setting, the characters?
  • As the chief narrator, whose point of view is being centered in these stories?
  • Are you in the business of narrative change in your organization?
  • And, if so, what is the impetus for and goal of the narrative change?

Get building blocks to narrate the story of your nonprofit to be more equitable while being authentic.

Consultants Grappling with Racial Equity

Summer 2020 Learning Series

August 4, August 18, September 1, and September 15, 2-3:30pm EST.

Our changing world is demanding that nonprofit organizations examine their organizational culture, rightfully evaluating how race and privilege are woven into every facet of their work. This shift is impacting their expectations around contracted work with consultants - whether around fundraising, board development, strategic planning, or other issues, requiring more attention to and integration of a race equity lens into the collaborative process.

If you are a consultant, coach, or other expert who wants to build your skills for engaging with clients on issues of race, privilege, equity and justice, join us for a 4-session learning series.

In this training series, we will workshop and role play through questions like:

  • How do I bring my anti-racist practice into my consultancy work?
  • What role can I play in advancing racial equity with my nonprofit clients?
  • How can I assess an organization's readiness to engage in racial equity work as part of my project with them?
  • What are ways I can incorporate racial equity into my work with clients?
  • How can I skillfully intervene when encountering issues of racism, privilege, or white fragility?

The series comprises four 90-minute conversations led by Melissa Johnson Hewitt, a nationally-recognized facilitator, coach, and strategist with a focus on social justice. Melissa is Founder and Principal of Forward Movement Consulting, a consulting firm that activates leaders and organizations within social justice movements to be bolder, clearer, and more authentic in their fight to amplify the voices and power of communities of color.

This learning series is for nonprofit consultants, coaches, and other experts who have some experience with integrating racial equity concepts into their work. These conversations are designed for those who are not racial equity experts, but are committed to bringing their anti-racist practice to their strategic planning, fundraising, board development, or other nonprofit work.

This learning series is capped at 50 participants.
